Context window
How much text the model can hold at once. When it fills up, the oldest material falls out.
Not the same as memory
Memory implies it remembers you. The window is the text it can see right now — close the session and none of it survives, and even inside one session the oldest material falls out first.
Where it bites
Long sessions drift for a reason you cannot see: the constraint you set forty turns ago has scrolled out, so the agent stops honouring a rule it never disagreed with. If it starts re-introducing something you ruled out, the window is full, not the model stubborn.
