Cursor
Cursor: An editor with an AI agent built in — the same idea as a terminal agent, wrapped in an IDE.
Not the same as a terminal agent
Both can edit files and run terminal commands. The difference is where you work: Cursor’s agent sits in the editor’s side pane, so you watch changes land in the files you have open rather than reading them as a diff in a shell.
Where it bites
Its checkpoints are an undo button, not version control: they are stored locally, separate from Git, and restoring one reverts files only while the conversation carries on. Commit before a big agent change; Cursor’s own docs say to use Git for permanent version control.
